                            Picture
Monty Humble brings over 30 years of energy market, policy and legal expertise to energy development.  A policy expert and problem solver, Monty’s hands-on experience with major energy developments, policy analysis and DC beltway connections bring insight into future energy policies and leadership to energy investments.  Monty participates in investments, and helps actively guide overall company strategies given the shifting winds of state and national energy policies.

Currently, Monty is President and COO of Austin Energy Partners, LLC participating in the development of clean energy projects in the Northeastern United States.  He is also leading legislative efforts related to transmission and renewable energy standards legislation in  Congress for a multi-client coalition, and is a Managing Director at the Texas Institute, a policy and research institute affiliated with six universities in North Texas.

Prior to that, Monty was the Senior Vice President and General Counsel to Boone Pickens’ Mesa Power Group.  There he was responsible for developing and executing legislative strategy and language for the renewable energy portion of the Pickens Plan.  In addition, he oversaw the commercial wind energy development company legal affairs, including project development, corporate organization, mergers and acquisitions, supply agreements, power purchase agreements, wind farm leasing and transmission agreements and strategy.

Previously, Monty was a partner with Vinson & Elkins LLP where sample energy projects included advising entrepreneurs in connection with major wind developments, leveraged buyout of utility companies, deregulation strategies for Texas electricity market, and helped to create special purpose entities to securitize multi-billion dollar utility customer receivables portfolio for three unrelated Texas utility companies.

Monty is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law where he teaches a course in federal renewable energy policy and has served as a Director of the American Wind Energy Association and a founding member of the Coalition for the Green Bank.  He also serves on the advisory board for the Texas Institute for Sustainable Energy.

Monty received his BA with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin and his JD with honors from The University of Texas School of Law.

He currently resides in Dallas Texas with his family and is very active in constructing the next set of US national energy policy in DC.
